Zusammenfassung

The research and development of vehicle headlamp systems aim to improve traffic safety and comfort, as well as provide communication possibilities between the driver and other road participants. Current research in this field divides the entire illumination distribution into a large number of individually controllable pixels. With this high-resolution light distribution, active lighting functionalities in terms of adapting illumination patterns, reducing glare, and projecting lighting content in front of the vehicle can be realized with the collaborative work of vehicle sensors. Based on these functionalities and resulting scientific challenges, a concept for the implementation of the high-resolution headlamp is put forward. In addition to functionalities, the development of vehicle headlamps must be conducted under legal regulations. These regulations result in specific requirements regarding illumination and projection qualities, raising further design considerations for the system. Therefore, appropriate design methods and optical systems to further develop the concept to fulfill the requirements are figured out and validated in the thesis. The proof of the concept is carried out in the form of a headlamp prototype with six laser diodes and two LCoS modulators. The six laser diodes are in the colors red, green, and blue and emit laser light in two polarizations, each of which works with one LCoS to produce white or chromatic high-resolution light distribution. The two beams with different polarizations are superposed to each other in the target traffic area. Based on this system, a fully functional headlamp prototype is validated and evaluated.
