Zusammenfassung
„A Sage in New Haven“ ist eine Hommage an Professor Robert R. Wilson, emeritierter Hoober-Professor für Religionswissenschaft und emeritierter Professor für Altes Testament an der Yale University. Die Festschrift setzt sich aus zwei Teilen zusammen. Jeder Abschnitt repräsentiert ein biblisches Korpus beziehungsweise einen Studienbereich, für den Bob Wilson bedeutende Beiträge geleistet hat. Teil I befasst sich mit Themen im Zusammenhang mit den Propheten und Teil II mit den Schriften, dem alten Nahen Osten und ihrer Wissenschaft. Insgesamt 32 Aufsätze widmen sich unter anderem den Themen „Männer und sexuelle Übergriffe in Jesaja 56,1–8“, „Genrevielfalt in Micha 6,1–8“, „Der menschliche Körper im Buch der Richter“, „Og in biblischer Historiographie und postbiblischen Kontexten“, „Millenarismus im antiken Judentum “, „Yale und die Bibel: 1886–1925“, „Altern in alten israelitischen und jüdischen Anweisungen“, „Mechanismen der Überzeugung in den Sefire-Inschriften“, „Rituale zur Beruhigung von Kindern im Alten Orient", ... um nur einige aufzuzählen.
"A Sage in New Haven" pays tribute to Professor Robert R. Wilson, Yale University’s Hoober Professor emeritus of Religious Studies and Professor emeritus of Old Testament. The festschrift is composed of two sections. Each section represents a biblical corpus or area of study in which Bob Wilson has made significant contributions. Part I addresses subjects related to the Prophets and Part II to the Writings, the ancient Near East, and their scholarship. Altogether 32 essays are devoted among other topics to "Males and Sexual Assault in Isaiah 56:1–8", "Genre Multiplicity in Micah 6:1–8", "The Human Body in Judges", "Og in Biblical Historiography and Postbiblical Contexts", "Millenarianism in Ancient Judaism", "Yale and the Bible: 1886–1925", "Aging in Ancient Israelite and Jewish Instructions", "Mechanisms of Persuasion in the Sefire Inscriptions", "Rituals for Keeping Infants Safe and Quiet in the Ancient Near East", ... to list just a few.
