Zusammenfassung

Die jüngere, sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung zur Gemeinsamen Sicherheits- und Verteidigungspolitik (GSVP) geht davon aus, dass die mit der GSVP befassten administrativen EU-Strukturen eine über ihr formales Aufgabenportfolio deutlich hinausgehende Rolle bei der Ausgestaltung des Politikfelds einnehmen. Mit dieser Hypothese setzt sich das Buch auseinander.

Es untersucht mit Hilfe qualitativer Methoden, ob auch mit Blick auf die bislang aus Perspektive der theoriegeleiteten GSVP-Forschung unberücksichtigten Agenturen EU-Satellitenzentrum (EUSC) und Europäische Verteidigungsagentur (EDA) die suggerierten Sozialisierungs- und Verselbstständigungsprozesse nachvollziehbar sind. Dabei generiert die Studie nicht nur Erkenntnisse zur faktischen Rolle des EUSC und der EDA im Governance-System der GSVP, sondern leistet vor allem einen Beitrag zur Differenzierung und Fortentwicklung des GSVP-spezifischen Theoriekorpus.
