Zusammenfassung

Der sechste und letzte Band der Gesammelten Schriften von Otto Kirchheimer (1905–1965) mit dem Titel Politische Analysen für das OSS und Department of State beinhaltet eine Auswahl von 19 Arbeiten, die Kirchheimer im Rahmen seiner Tätigkeiten für die US-amerikanische Regierung zwischen 1944 und 1953 verfasst hat, sowie die 1947 erschienene Frankreich-Schrift A Constitution for the Fourth Republic. Die meisten der in den Band aufgenommenen Beiträge werden hier zum ersten Mal publiziert und bieten einen zuvor verschlossenen Zugang zu den Studien, die Kirchheimer im US-amerikanischen Geheimdienstwesen erstellt hat. Die Themen reichen von der Abschaffung der Nazi-Gesetzgebung in der Besatzungsphase über Beobachtungen der jungen bundesdeutschen Demokratie und ihrer Parteiendynamik bis zu Studien zur entstehenden DDR und den kommunistischen Parteien Westeuropas. Eine ausführliche Einleitung erläutert das komplexe Institutionengefüge, in dem Kirchheimer seine Geheimdienstkarriere absolviert hat. Aufgelistet werden zudem alle weiteren Arbeiten Kirchheimers für das US-amerikanische Geheimdienstwesen. Abgeschlossen wird der Band mit einem umfangreichen Sach- und Personenregister.Das Buch richtet sich an Interessierte der Politikwissenschaft, Rechtswissenschaft, Zeitgeschichte und Soziologie.
