While Torsten Stein’s great merits for the Deutsche Vereinigung für Internatioales Recht (DVIR), for which he served as Secretary-General (1993–2006) and President (2006–2016) as well as his merits for the International Law Association, for which he serves since 1993 in its Executive Council and for which he acted for 12 years as Honorary Treasurer, are widely known, few are aware of the instrumental role he played in the scientific activities of the ILA. This contribution therefore gives an overview over his most influential activities as Co-Rapporteur of the ILA Committee on International Law and Municipal/National Courts (1993–1998), as Member of the ILA Committee on Extradition and Human Rights (1993–1998) and as Chairman of the ILA Committee on the International Criminal Court (2001–2010).
