Dynamic markets, scarce space, and increasing automation reshaped the conditions for factory planning and reduced the applicability of established methods. Especially in the early phase of factory planning, a reliable estimate of space requirements based on incomplete information is necessary. This article presents a method for determining space needs in piece goods production and validates it using the example of aircraft industry.
