The Viennese social enterprise ›Vollpension‹, which focuses on intergenerational dialogue and reducing poverty and loneliness among the elderly, originally started out in the gastronomy sector with these impact goals and already operates two intergenerational cafés and a to-go location, has increasingly established digitalization as a sweet spot for social impact due to the Covid-19 crisis. For example, the Backademie created online baking courses by grandmas and social media campaigns as colorful mediators between the generations. It became clear that digitalization is a lever for using social business to promote inclusion and intergenerational dialogue with older people even more effectively. As part of a project funded by the Vienna Business Agency, the previous digitization measures of the social enterprise ›Vollpension‹ were to be analyzed from an ethical perspective using the concept of ›digital humanism‹, critically examined and – in the event of an ethical need for action – concrete solutions developed. This article is intended to provide an insight into this process of the social enterprise in order to show other companies how such a concern could be tackled in concrete terms and to encourage them to do so.
