Automotive suppliers face the challenge of increasing engineering complexity, high market requirements and compliance with regulations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE) as well as A-SPICE. These challenges are addressed by model-based system engineering (MBSE) approaches. In this paper, the effect chain modelling and analysis is proposed using the MECA method at the automotive supplier paragon. The results are an increased interdisciplinary system understanding of cause-effect relationships, good practices from the application and starting points for a full-scale implementation of MBSE.
