In this article, Stefan Rieger focuses on objects whose function lies in their dysfunctionality. Alternative design practices such as material speculation create objects, counterfactual artefacts that do not fit into an efficiency-enhancing logic of use and challenge conventional practices of subjectivation and objectification. The stubbornness of these objects exposes affordances that allow worlding to emerge as a dynamic product of mixed ecologies.
