this volume compare a version of the original text with translations
into various indigenous Latin American languages. The studies
highlight the problems in incorporating concepts from the
Judeo-Christian tradition into the diverse cultural and linguistic
contexts of indigenous communities. Furthermore, the book discusses
backgrounds regarding the composition and textual form of the prayer.
As the translations often were realised through intermediate languages
like Latin, Spanish or Englisch, linguistic implications are
