Kapitelvorschau:

Der Beitrag identifiziert die Dynamiken privater Autorität über Zeit sowie gegenläufige Deprivatisierungsprozesse als empirisch-analytisch und politik-praktisch zentrale, aber bisher zu wenig erforschte Aspekte von privater Autorität und Privatisierung. Er plädiert für eine staatsfokussierte, aber dynamische theoretische Herangehensweise, die die empirische Möglichkeit ernst nimmt, dass Staaten eine asymmetrische Rolle bei der Autorisierung (Privatisierung) bzw. „Entmachtung“ (Deprivatisierung) von privaten Governance-Akteuren zukommt. Zu diesem Zweck erscheint eine Kombination der oftmals getrennt oder als rivalisierend betrachteten Theorieströmungen der Prinzipal-Agenten-Theorie, politökonomischer Ansätze zu privater Autorität und des historischen Institutionalismus vielversprechend.
