Geschlechterungleichheit in der Film- und Fernsehbranche ist sowohl auf globaler als auch auf nationaler Ebene gut erforscht. Eine evidenzbasierte Bewertung dieser Ungleichheit erfolgt in der Regel über jährlich aggregierte Statistiken, die in Form summarischer Daten die Anzahl oder den Anteil von Frauen und geschlechtlichen Minderheiten in der Branche erfassen. Diese Studie hingegen geht davon aus, dass Geschlechterungleichheit aus ungleichen sozialen Beziehungen resultiert. Wir wenden Soziale Netzwerkanalyse (SNA) an, um die spezifische Struktur von Kollaborationsnetzwerken in der deutschen Filmindustrie über einen Zeitraum von acht Jahren zu untersuchen. Ergänzend zur SNA beziehen wir biografische Informationen ein und richten unser Augenmerk insbesondere auf die Kooperationsmuster der einflussreichsten Akteure der Branche: männliche Filmproduzenten. Während frühere Studien zu dem Schluss kamen, dass es kein „Nachwuchsproblem“ gebe, da Frauen Filmhochschulen in statistisch gleichem Maße wie Männer abschließen, zeigen unsere Ergebnisse, dass die während des Filmstudiums geknüpften professionellen Beziehungen unter Männern über ihre gesamte Laufbahn hinweg bestehen bleiben und als strukturelles Hindernis für die Karrieren von Frauen wirken.
